These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Indie Island ("we," "our," or "us"), the portfolio platform at indieis.land designed for digital nomads, freelancers, and indie hackers to showcase their work professionally.
By using our platform, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use Indie Island.
Your Indie Island Account
Account Creation
- Eligibility: You must be at least 16 years old to create an account
- Accurate Information: Provide truthful, current information when creating your profile
- Username Rights: Your indieis.land/username is yours while your account is active
- Professional Use: Accounts are intended for showcasing professional work and connecting with opportunities
Account Security
- Password Protection: Keep your login credentials secure and confidential
- Account Activity: You're responsible for all activity under your account
- Unauthorized Access: Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access
Content & Portfolio Guidelines
Your Content Rights
- Ownership: You retain all rights to content you upload to your portfolio
- License to Display: You grant us permission to display your content on the platform
- Backup Rights: We may create backups for technical purposes
- Removal Rights: You can remove your content anytime
Content Standards
All content on Indie Island must be professional and respectful:
- Professional: Appropriate for a business/professional context
- Original or Licensed: Content you own or have permission to use
- Legal: Compliant with applicable laws and regulations
- Respectful: Free from harassment, discrimination, or harmful material
Payments & Billing
Certain Indie Island features are paid (the “Paid Services”), including a Yearly plan and a Lifetime one‑time purchase. Prices are shown in your checkout currency and may include applicable taxes.
- Processing: Payments are processed by Polar (polar.sh) on our behalf. By purchasing, you also agree to Polar’s applicable terms and policies.
- Yearly plan: Billed in advance for a 12‑month term and renews automatically at the then‑current price unless you cancel before renewal. You can cancel anytime; access continues through the end of your current term.
- Lifetime plan: One‑time, non‑recurring fee that provides access to the Lifetime tier features as defined at the time of purchase.
- Taxes: You are responsible for any applicable taxes. Where required, taxes are calculated and collected at checkout.
Refunds & Cancellations
- Cancellations: You may cancel your Yearly plan at any time; your benefits remain available until the end of the paid period. Future renewals will not be charged after cancellation.
- Refunds: Except where required by law, fees are non‑refundable, including for partial periods, downgrades, or unused time. If you believe a charge was made in error, contact us within 14 days at legal@indieis.land.
- Chargebacks: Please contact us first to resolve billing issues. Unwarranted chargebacks may result in account limitations.
Third‑Party Services
We rely on third‑party providers to deliver the Services. This includes Clerk for authentication and Polar (polar.sh) for payment processing. Your use of the Services may be subject to those providers’ terms and policies. We are not responsible for third‑party services we do not control.
Disputes & Governing Law
Before initiating formal action, you agree to first contact us at legal@indieis.land and allow 30 days to attempt to resolve the dispute informally.
These Terms (and any non‑contractual disputes/claims) are governed by the laws applicable to our principal place of business, without regard to conflict of laws principles. Where not prohibited, disputes will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction.
